This will select the entire area which is unbroken of the same color. On the left side of your GIMP window, select the Fuzzy selection tool and click on your image background. This will add a transparent level below your image. From the drop-down menu, select Add alpha channel. Once it opens, go to Layers panel on the right and right click on the main image layer (should be the only layer in the photo). First, open the photo in question in GIMP. The Fuzzy selection Tool is the fastest way to effectively remove a background from a photo. Of course, you can use Gimp to remove backgrounds from photos.
MAGIC ERASER GIMP FOR MAC FREE
Since it is a free and open source Photoshop alternative, Gimp can do wonders for your images. You can remove the background layer if you don’t need it. To create a New layer per cut by pressing Ctrl + Shift + J to create a separate layer for your object. Now click on the Lasso tool to select the object and draw an outline around it. Feel free to zoom in and click on the remaining traces of the background.
Now make any further adjustments to the photo. Now click on the background and the Magic Eraser tool will remove the entire solid background from the photo. Together Tolerance somewhere in between 20 and 30 (this protects parts of the original image from deletion), check the Anti-alias and Contiguous boxes and set Opacity at 100%. In the top menu, there should be additional settings for the Magic Eraser tool.
From the available menu, select the Magic eraser tool. Now go to the Eraser tool menu by clicking and holding the button Gum tool icon. This will enable editing and you will need to rename the “Background” layer to “Layer 0”. In the New Layer pop-up window, do not change any options and click Okay. Now right click on this layer and choose Background layer from the drop-down menu. Your image probably only has one layer, probably called “Background”.
After opening the photo in question in Photoshop, navigate to Layers in the right part of your Photoshop window. If the background of a photo you want to work on is a solid or nearly solid color, Photoshop is your best option.
